On 11 April 1992, seven World War II, Korean and Vietnam War cruiser sailors met at the Fleet Reserve Hall at Davisville, Rhode Island. The meeting was held to discuss the possibility of forming an association of cruiser sailors. On 18 June 1992, the United States Navy Cruiser Sailors Association was officially incorporated.
